To the exceedingly few unfriendly foreign press out there
극히 일부의 불친절한 외국 언론에게

제목부터 먹어주고 간다. exceedingly few는 정말정말 적은 숫자다. 없다고 봐도 좋을 만한 사람들에게 뭘 말하고 싶은 건가, 그대는?

  The majority of foreign press are very friendly to Korea.

They are very helpful in letting the international community know about the good aspects of Korea.

I feel thankful to them.

know는 타동사이기 때문에 about이 필요가 없다.

  But then there are the exceedingly few foreign press which are not like that.

They sometimes do malicious or irresponsible reporting that distorts the facts completely.

 that은 문장 전체를 받을 때 사용한다. 저기서 that은 unfriendly foreign press인데, 그럼 3인칭 복수니까 them으로 받는게 맞다. 그리고 do는 왜 썼나? 강조하고 싶으면 do report라고 하면 되고, 그게 아니면 그냥 report라고 하면 된다. do reporting은 정말 어색한 말이다.

  As the financial crisis is engulfing the world so fast and so strong, we cannot say Korea is the only country which remains safe.

But our situation is not critical enough to be the target of irresponsible ridicule.

Compared to other countries, Korea has a relatively solid financial system and sufficient foreign reserves.

The nation's leader and the people are standing together to overcome these obstacles.

생각해 보니까 strong은 형용사다. 그럼 and에 묶여 있으니까 fast도 형용사다. 그럼 그 형용사가 수식하는건 the world다. 따라서 "금융 위기는 매우 빠르고 매우 강한 세계를 빠져들고 있다"가 된다. 그리고 세계에서 Korea는 2개 있다. 외국인들에게 하는 말이라면 Republic of Korea라고 하든가 South Korea라고 해라. 쫌.

아까부터 자꾸 마음에 걸린 건데 but을 반전의 전환어구로 쓰는 건 구어체다. However, Nevetherless, Nonetheless 등등 아주 좋은 반전 어구들이 많다. 그대, 외국 기자들에게 반말하나?

reserve는 그냥 "예약"이나 "예비"란 뜻이다. 따라서 foreign reserve라고 하면 그냥 외국의 예약이나 외국의 창고 등이 된다.

stand는 "서 있다"는 뜻이고, 저걸 are standing toghether라고 하면 그냥 곁에 서 있는 것을 뜻한다. 그것도 장애물을 부수기 위해서. 그냥 try라고 쓰면 된다.

Criticism based on facts we can accept and think of them as constructive.

But I hope that you will refrain from reporting baseless allegations.

Those kind of reports will not make the Korean economy collapse, and I rather am worried that one or two of those irresponsible reports may create mistrust of the entire foreign press.

 일단 위 문단의 첫 문장의 주동사는 based다. 주어는 Criticism이다. 그렇게 해석하면 "비판은 우리가 받아들일 수 있고 우리가 건설적으로 생각할 수 있는 사실에 기반했다"가 된다. 그리고 그 다음 문장이 "그러나 우린 그런 근거없는 비판을 그만두기를 바란다"가 나온다. 논리가 없다. 받아들일 수 있는 비판이라고 해놓고서 그만두기를 바란다면 받아들일 수 없는 비판을 하라는 뜻인가, 아니면 그냥 하라는 뜻인가.

그리고 I rather am worried that 는 완전히 틀렸다. 일단 rather는 would rather 등으로 조동사 뒤에 나온다. 그리고 be worried 라고 썼으면 수동태이므로 그 뒤에 목적어가 직접 나올 수 없다. 전치사를 써야 한다. 아니면 그냥 I worry라고 하든가.

결론적으로, 아주 쉬운 콩글리쉬로 작성된 논평 되겠다.
